A recent funding bid made to Arts Council England's Grants for the Arts programme has been sadly unsuccesful. The grant application proposal made by Shine looked to link 15 non-BSF schools, the ICT Learning Platform with a digital art proposal developed by Artists ADEPT.

The failed application will be discussed in the October 2011 Public Art Strategy Group meeting.

As of 19th May 2011, artists Tony Broomhead of Amenity Space (Pleckgate) and Noah Rose (Darwen Vale) both completed and presented their Stage 4 Scheme Design Reviews and as such, works to the next stage is now progressing. Click on the respective project tabs above to see their individual Scheme Design presentations.

Similarly, as of 2nd August 2011, artists Andy Siddall of Civic (Blackburn Central - i.e. previously known as New East Blackburn and/or Blackburn Learning Community) and Kathryn Hodgkinson (Witton Park) have completed their Stage 3 Outline Proposal Design Review, and will now be progressing onto the next Stage 4. Click on the respective project tabs above to see their joint-collaborative Outline Proposal presentations.

Shine Arts Strategist Ian Banks is currently concluding a funding bid application to Arts Council England's Grants for the Arts and linking to the new ICT (Information and Creative Technology) Learning Platform recently commissioned by Shine. This funding bid, if successful, hopes to link the 15 non-BSF schools who are to receive the Learning Platform with a digital art project being developed by Lead Artists ADEPT. ADEPT consists of Steve Manthorp and Shanaz Gulzar.

According to the December 2010 Executive Board of Blackburn with Darwen Council (item 2.3), following 40% capital grant deductions set by the Department for Education for BSF phase 2 schemes (which include Tauheedul Islam Girls High School, St Bedes Catholic High School, Our Lady & St John's Catholic High School, and St Thomas Centre Pupil Referral Unit), Stage 0 Business Cases were finally submitted to Partnership for Schools (PfS) in December 2010.
